General Rental participates in the Milwaukee Red Tote program, an exclusive service for high-volume Milwaukee Tool repair centers. This program streamlines and speeds up the repair process — tools ship out almost daily, and it lets us track the status of every repair for you.

How it works

    Drop your tool off at General Rental.

    We'll gather your information and your receipt, if you have one.

  3. 3

    We'll determine whether the tool is still under warranty.

  4. 4

    Your tool ships out the very next business day at no cost to you.

  5. 5

    Milwaukee Tool receives and evaluates the tool.

  6. 6

    If it's covered under warranty, they'll repair or replace it and send it back to us.

  7. 7

    If it's not covered, they'll send us a repair estimate, and we'll reach out to you for approval before moving forward.

  8. 8

    Once your tool is repaired, we'll contact you so you can pick it up at your convenience.

How long until I get my tool back?

Typically 7–10 business days.

What if I live far from General Rental?

You can drive your tool to us or ship it to us at your own expense. If you ship it to us, you'll also need to cover the cost of shipping it back.

What if I don't want to drive or ship it to you?

You can use Milwaukee Tool's eService online program to submit your repair directly at service.milwaukeetool.com/support.

How do I know if my tool is covered under warranty?

Coverage is determined by the tool's serial number or by the purchase date on your receipt.

If it's not covered under warranty, how much will it cost?

Milwaukee Tool will send us a repair estimate, and we'll pass that estimate along to you.

What if I don't have a receipt?

Milwaukee Tool can determine warranty status using the tool's serial number instead.

What if I can't read the serial number either?

If you don't have a receipt and can't read the serial number, Milwaukee Tool will determine warranty coverage once they receive and evaluate the tool in person.

Do I need to bring the battery and other accessories with the tool?

No — we will not send the battery along with the tool. However, please leave any parts or attachments that came with the tool attached (e.g., a grease gun hose, grinder guard, or chainsaw bar/chain) so Milwaukee Tool can properly assess warranty coverage.

What if I decide not to have my tool repaired at the quoted cost?

Just let us know, and we'll ask whether you'd like the tool recycled or returned to you unrepaired. If you choose to have it returned, please note it will come back disassembled — Milwaukee Tool does not reassemble tools that won't be repaired.

Can I just buy a new tool instead of repairing this one?

Absolutely. When we call with your repair estimate, we'll also give you the price of a comparable new tool so you can compare. We'll let you know if it's in stock or would need to be ordered.
